How to Find Your Creativity and Purpose: A Practical Guide to Fulfillment - Entry by Jessica Wright

Throughout my life, I’ve found that my most peaceful moments come from engaging in creative pursuits. Creativity feels like a gift, one I believe is spiritual—something, in my view, bestowed by God. Have you ever experienced a sudden spark of inspiration—a book idea, a business concept, or an artistic vision? These moments have been a recurring part of my life since childhood. A pastor once preached about honoring these gifts, emphasizing that if we don’t use them, they might be given to someone else who will.

But why do we sometimes hold back? In my journey, I realized fear plays a significant role—fear of being different, isolated, or misunderstood. Growing up in a humble family, I internalized the idea that fitting in was better than standing out. However, embracing my creative gifts and seeking guidance through coaching helped me overcome these fears.

Steps Toward Unlocking Your Creativity:

1. Notice How Busy You Are: Is being super busy truly working for you? Satan is the ultimate confuser, and he knows that if he constantly keeps you busy you won’t unlock your God given potential. Practice each day finding 10 minutes of quiet and let your mind be still.

2. Find Your Tribe: Surround yourself with people who "get" you. My mentor encouraged me to seek out friends who align with my values and support my creative journey. It took time, but I handpicked my tribe—people who accept me as I am and inspire me to grow. They’re a mix of dreamers like me and inspiring, God loving ladies who keep me grounded.

3. Seek a Mentor or Coach: A mentor can provide neutral guidance, accountability, and encouragement. Step out of your comfort zone to connect with those who can help you achieve your creative goals.

4. Make Time for Your Passion: Success often comes down to dedication. As Nick Rogan, an author and former classmate, once told me, the difference between those who write books and those who don’t is simply the time invested daily. This principle applies universally—whether it’s creative work, parenting, or career aspirations.

5. Connect with God: What ideas occupy your thoughts? What talents do you hold back on sharing? Keeping a journal has helped me capture fleeting inspirations and stay aligned with my goals. Find out what He wants you to share with the world.
